The DiSTI Corporation has secured a strategic contract with the U.S. Army to deliver a cutting-edge Sergeant STOUT (M-SHORAD) Operator/Maintainer Trainer (OMT) classroom at the Army's premier artillery training facility, the Fires Center of Excellence (FCOE) at Fort Sill, Oklahoma.
The classroom will be a desktop-based, networked electronic environment with twelve Student Stations (SSs) for trainees and one Instructor Operator Station (IOS) for the trainer. Each station will run the SGT STOUT OMT software, which is specially designed for operator and maintainer training. The system uses the Fires Common Core architecture and baseline and meets cybersecurity Authority to Operate (ATO) requirements. These technologies also support DiSTI's training platforms for HIMARS, MLRS, and Paladin.
The contract addresses the U.S. Army's critical need for a virtual operator/maintainer training capability for the SGT STOUT Increment 1 air defense platform, which is based on the Stryker M1126 chassis. The OMT will enable instructors to train students on the SGT STOUT platform by replicating the tasks performed on actual SGT STOUT tactical systems.
"This contract represents our ongoing commitment to providing transformational training solutions that enhance warfighter readiness," said John Hayward, CEO at DiSTI. "Our virtual training environments significantly improve student throughput and knowledge retention throughout the warfighter's career, ultimately contributing to mission success."
The OMT's main goal is to teach 14P Air and Missile Defense Crewmember MOS students the cognitive skills needed. Training will concentrate on skills for operator duties at the firing point, reload processes, and conducting Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS).
The SGT STOUT system is named in honor of Sergeant Mitchell W. Stout, the only Air Defense Artillery Soldier to receive the Congressional Medal of Honor. SGT Stout's extraordinary heroism and selfless actions during the Vietnam War exemplify the values and dedication of the Air Defense Artillery branch.
DiSTI's virtual training solutions continue to transform how military personnel prepare for their missions, providing cost-effective, efficient, and comprehensive training that can be accessed throughout a service member's career. The electronic classroom environment allows for consistent training delivery, performance tracking, and scenario-based learning that traditional methods cannot match.
