The DiSTI Corporation, a global leader in developing graphical user interface tools for embedded safety-critical systems, has joined forces with Ottawa Infotainment (OI), a trusted provider of digital cockpit and infotainment hardware and software, to present a groundbreaking demonstration. This demonstration will showcase the next-generation Human-Machine Interface (HMI) safety and performance for the Software Defined Vehicle (SDV), a result of the unique partnership between these two industry giants.

DiSTI’s GL Studio, running on the Toradex Verdin platform featuring the NXP i.MX95 processor, with Ottawa Infotainment’s DragonFire framework operating on QNX’s automotive software stack is ideal for automotive engineers. This powerful combination ensures automotive OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers achieve the perfect balance of high-performance graphics, real-time responsiveness, and ISO 26262 functional safety in modern vehicle cockpits.

“This demo shows how easily developers can bridge desktop and embedded workflows with GL Studio while maintaining full design integrity and safety certification requirements,” said DiSTI’s VP of UX/UI Technology Chris Giordano. “By combining DiSTI’s production-proven HMI technology with Ottawa Infotainment’s DragonFire and the robust performance of NXP’s i.MX95 on the Toradex platform, we’re enabling automotive innovators to go from concept to production faster than ever.”

Ottawa Infotainment’s DragonFire automotive platform facilitates rapid integration of automotive software components and seamlessly integrates with GL Studio’s high-performance HMI runtime. Dragonfire supports a variety of automotive software components, including audio, cameras, Bluetooth, navigation, AAOS, and voice assistant technologies. DragonFire incorporates TeleCANesis, a flexible, lightweight communication layer that seamlessly integrates with vehicle systems, all while maintaining deterministic behavior and safety assurance under QNX’s automotive-grade operating system.

“DragonFire’s modular architecture, built on QNX’s real-time OS, enables ASIL-B compliant integration with GL Studio’s safety-centric rendering engine, supporting high-performance graphics with low-latency CAN bus communication. This ensures deterministic timing for safety-critical HMI elements in SDVs, while facilitating over-the-air firmware updates and scalable deployment using NXP i.MX95 hardware,” said Jonathan Hacker, CTO of Ottawa Infotainment.

The demo highlights a full digital instrument cluster and infotainment interface, illustrating how GL Studio-developed content can easily transition between desktop simulation and embedded deployment. The result is a scalable, efficient workflow that accelerates time-to-market for next-generation automotive experiences
