GL Studio Selected by Draper for Artemis Lunar Landing Simulator
Space

The DiSTI Corporation, the world’s leading provider of HMI development solutions, announces that GL Studio has been selected by Draper for developing a true-to-life 4D simulation of landing a spacecraft on the moon. The simulation shows the first phase of the Lunar Landing Simulator that was used to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 landing. In the next phase, GL Studio will also be used in prototypes and studies for NASA’s Artemis lunar  exploration program.

Draper GL Studio

“With the adoption of GL Studio for Artemis, that puts our HMI software in almost every space endeavor being conducted in the United States today,” said Christopher Giordano, DiSTI’s Vice President of UX/UI Technology. “It’s a huge honor for us to be part of such a historic endeavor as the commercial aerospace continues to thrive and grow globally.”

NASA hopes to send astronauts to the moon again by 2024. As part of that mission, dubbed Artemis, Draper is one of several companies working on prototypes for a new lunar lander.

GL Studio has been used in the HMI development for the instrument panels and control displays within the Lunar Landing Simulator due to its ease of integration with third-party tools used in both the cockpit simulator and a simpler training kiosk.

According to Curt Schroeder, Task Lead for Simulation and Visualization on the project at Draper, “GL Studio’s Re-usable Software Objects (RSOs) allowed us to re-use assets from the cockpit simulation and build the training kiosk from concept to operational prototype in just one week.”

Space may be the final frontier, but at DiSTI we know the first step is HMI software, simulations, and training you can rely on. Please contact Sales@Disti.com to learn more about our experience in spacecraft technology.

FAA Selects GL Studio and ZedaSoft for 737 MAX Aircraft Research Simulator
Aviation

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has selected the DiSTI Corporation, a leading provider of graphical user interface development software and solutions to develop a 737 MAX Aircraft Research Simulator. The resulting displays will be integrated by ZedaSoft, Inc of Fort Worth, TX using its patented CBA® for Simulation software framework.

FAA 737 MAX

The focus of this research will be Human Factors evaluations that examine the pilot reaction to the differences between 737 NG and 737 MAX cockpit configurations. As 737 cockpits move towards larger screens capable of showing multiple pages on a single display, the FAA wants to measure how pilots interact with them.

“After over a decade of success together, we are excited to continue the journey with our long time partners and customers, ZedaSoft and the FAA on this new program”, says Christopher Giordano DiSTI’s Vice President of UX/UI Technology, “This program is a great example of what strong partnerships and good engineering can produce.”

For this program, DiSTI will be building the 737 MAX MDF pages for the FAA utilizing its GL Studio software. ZedaSoft will contribute the necessary hardware upgrades and integration required to complete this endeavor.

“ZedaSoft is pleased to continue our fifteen years of support to the FAA for human factors flight deck research and evaluation. By leveraging the DiSTI GL Studio graphics software and our CBA® for Simulation software framework, we are able to integrate this solution quickly and efficiently to meet the FAA research schedule”, explains Fred Fleury, Vice President of Corporate Development.

The Boeing 737 MAX is a narrow-body aircraft series manufactured by Boeing Commercial Airplanes as the fourth generation of the Boeing 737, succeeding the Boeing 737 Next Generation (NG). Boeing’s 737 MAX is the fastest-selling airplane in Boeing history, accumulating nearly 4,700 orders from more than 100 customers worldwide.

Hyundai Mobis Uses DiSTI’s GL Studio® User Interface Software for Telluride
Automotive

The DiSTI Corporation, a leading provider of graphical user interface development software and solutions to the automotive, aerospace, and commercial industries announces the use of its GL Studio® software in the production of the all-new Kia Telluride digital instrument cluster. GL
Studio® will now serve as the software user interface layer for the display unit of this highly-rated Midsize SUV.

KIA Telluride

The recently released 2019 Kia Telluride features a full digital advanced Instrument Cluster designed and built using the GL Studio UI development software platform. These interfaces were conceived entirely in-house at Hyundai MOBIS for use in the South Korean automaker’s Telluride. The Telluride’s digital display allows users to experience state-of-the-art graphical features and user-definable customization. The simple and intuitive instrument cluster, featuring GL Studio, enables the LCD display to respond to vehicle data and driver inputs for ease of use for drivers.

“We have had the privilege of working with the Hyundai MOBIS team for many years on several programs,” said Christopher Giordano, Vice President of UX/UI Technology at DiSTI. “GL Studio is ideally suited for the rigors and demands of future concept work that help usher in a new age of digital display development with Hyundai MOBIS leading the way.”

DiSTI worked with Hyundai MOBIS to deliver this new platform. After a highly competitive evaluation process, and multiple proofs of concept iterations, Hyundai MOBIS adopted DiSTI’s GL Studio toolkit for its unmatched performance, flexibility, rapid support, and ability to produce feature-rich high quality 3D embedded applications. Another critical factor for the adoption is GL Studio’s built-in support for ISO 26262 Safety-Critical UI development which has been pre-certified up to ASIL D. U.S. Army Selects DiSTI to Build Its Family of Maintenance Trainers
Defense

The DiSTI Corporation, the world’s leading provider of virtual maintenance training solutions, has been selected by the U.S. Army to develop a prototype Family of Maintenance Trainers (FMT) – Common Core architecture and software baseline to support the existing FMT Product Line and future Maintenance Training Systems (MTS). The purpose of this effort is to analyze existing systems, develop a prototype Common Core Product Line Architecture and software baseline, and validate the Common Core Architecture by developing prototype maintenance trainers for multiple vehicle platforms such as Stryker, Bradley, Abrams, Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV), and Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicle (AMPV).

U.S. Army FMT

“We are excited for the opportunity to provide the U.S. Army with a mature solution that builds upon DiSTI’s comprehensive, proven, and end-user approved Virtual Maintenance Trainer (VMT) Framework to reduce cost, schedule, and risk across all technical objectives,” said Joe Swinski, CEO of the DiSTI Corporation.

Although the current trainers have common software within a particular platform’s MTS (i.e., within the Diagnostic/Troubleshooting Trainer (DTT), Part Task Trainers (PTT), and Hands On Trainers (HOT) for a single platform), there is no commonality across different platforms. Each platform’s software architecture and source code is unique and stove-piped. With this prototype effort, the Army desires to establish a Common Core (CC) software baseline to replace the current stove-piped software architecture with a common product line architecture that completely supports the entire FMT Product Line (PL). The FMT-CC will produce a set of plug-and-play applications in the PL architecture that are applicable across the FMT product portfolio of legacy and future combat/tactical vehicle training systems without a loss of current functionality.

DiSTI, a member of the Training and Readiness Accelerator (TReX) consortium, will leverage its twenty-five years of experience working on virtual training solutions for the development of the prototype Diagnostic and Troubleshooting Trainer (DTT) which is part of the FMT PL.

Working in conjunction with teammates Leidos, CAE, AIT Engineering, O’Neil & Associates, and Design Interactive this exceptionally qualified team will combine the specific experience needed for FMT success coupled with the commitment and skill to implement a Common Core that is adaptable to address new and emerging technologies for future training needs. The developed solution will allow the U.S. Army to define curriculum on a grand scale, train on multiple variants at the same time, while developing standardization of training across all models.
