U.S. Army Awards DiSTI $5.5M Delivery Order for Bradley Trainers
Defense

The DiSTI Corporation receives order from the U.S. Army to develop Diagnostic Troubleshooting Trainers (DTT) for the M2A3/M2A4 Bradley Fighting Vehicle.

Bradley Virtual Trainer

The DiSTI Corporation was the recent recipient of a $5.5M delivery order from the United States Army for M2A3/M2A4 Bradley Fighting Vehicle (BFV) virtual trainers. As the world’s leading provider of virtual training solutions, DiSTI will provide Diagnostic Troubleshooting Trainers (DTT) for the Bradley Fighting Vehicle, along with the classroom hardware as part of the Family of Maintenance Trainers (FMT) program.

“The Bradley Fighting Vehicle is a critical component in the U.S. Army’s Armored Brigade Combat Team and the combat vehicle modernization strategy,” said DiSTI CEO John Hayward. “The DiSTI Corporation is committed to continuing our mission of developing world-class, immersive training to ensure efficacy and force readiness.”

The total solution will extend the existing BFV DTT prototype lessons to include 80 maintenance and troubleshooting lessons and procedures. These variants of the Bradley Fighting Vehicle are equipped with enhanced features that provide rapid movement in reaction to combat or other adverse situations, protecting soldiers between critical points.

Installation of classrooms featuring the Bradley Fighting Vehicle DTT trainers will occur in Fort Benning, Georgia, Fort Lee, Virginia, and Camp Shelby located near Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

DiSTI’s virtual training solution will allow students to train in an advanced 3D learning environment to garner the skills necessary for BFV maintenance. This program will provide the U.S. Army with immersive, cost-effective training that improves student throughput, engagement, and learning outcomes.

The Family of Maintenance Trainers (FMT) is a program developed by the U.S. Army to establish a Common Core (CC) software baseline to replace its current software architecture with a solution adaptable to address new and emerging technologies for future training needs.

U.S. Army Selects DiSTI to Build C-RAM II Operator and Maintenance Trainer (OMT)
Defense

The DiSTI Corporation, the world’s leading provider of virtual maintenance training solutions, has been selected by the U.S. Army to upgrade the C-RAM LPWS Operator and Maintainer Trainer (OMT). This project is a simulation system used to train U.S. Army soldiers in operation and maintenance of the Counter-Rocket, Artillery, Mortar (C-RAM) Land-Based Phalanx Weapon System (LPWS).

CRAM Virtual Trainer

In October 2018, DiSTI completed a U.S. Army contract for the design, development, and testing of numerous electronic classrooms and training application software for the C-RAM LPWS and OMT. The training application software was developed using DiSTI’s VE Studio Virtual Training Development Platform networked electronic classroom Instructor Station, database-driven simulation engine, and lesson engine supporting tutorial, interactive practice, and assessment modes.

“We are honored to have been selected by the U.S. Army to upgrade the C-RAM Virtual Operations and Maintenance Trainer,” says John Cunningham, CRO of DISTI. “The use of the virtual technologies to train operators and maintainers continues to deliver real benefits to our military and commercial customers. Because the C-RAM was originally developed using DiSTI’s VE Studio Common Core Architecture the enhancements can be completed in a much more cost-effective and timely manner than traditional hand-coding practices.”

Due to changes in the tactical device with accompanying changes in the Technical Manuals associated with the C-RAM, a technology refresh to remain concurrent was required. As the trainer’s original equipment manufacturer (OEM), the U.S. Army selected DiSTI to perform the Operator and Maintainer upgrade.

The currently fielded and utilized systems will be technology refreshed, and a set of classroom equipment will be delivered and installed to support the training requirements for soldiers assigned to Air Defense Artillery (ADA) units.

This solution will allow the U.S. army to define curriculum, utilize advanced immersive training technologies while adapting a standardization for future training needs.

Boom Supersonic Adopts GL Studio for Use in Supersonic Jet Avionics
Aviation

As the world’s leading provider of graphical user interface software for over 20 years, The DiSTI Corporation is pleased to announce that Boom Supersonic has selected GL Studio as the Human Machine Interface (HMI) software development tool of choice for its supersonic demonstrator program. The Colorado-based company is using GL Studio to develop the embedded avionics in its supersonic demonstrator XB-1, as well as the prototyping, training simulator, and ground telemetry control room for the aircraft.

DiSTI Website Redesign

“XB-1’s high pitch attitude at landing means that the pilot has to rely solely on the multifunction display with an integrated camera to see the runway,” said Jeff Mabry, Chief Flight Test Engineer at Boom Supersonic. “We are excited to be using GL Studio software for such a safety-critical role in our cockpit. GL Studio has proven to be easily configurable and very reliable in all of our simulator development for the XB-1 flight deck.”

XB-1 is the demonstrator airplane for Overture and a critical step toward mainstream supersonic travel. XB-1 will prove key technologies for safe, efficient, and sustainable supersonic travel. Developed with GL Studio HMI software tools, XB-1 will be equipped with a primary display providing the pilot with all critical information in a single screen. This includes a forward-looking visual system to give pilots maximum visibility from the cockpit in addition to the primary flight displays, system synoptics, and engine information visualization.

“Boom’s adoption of GL Studio throughout their entire life cycle of XB-1 is the perfect use case for development efficiency,” said Christopher Giordano, VP of UX/UI Technology at DiSTI Corporation. “All of us at The DiSTI Corporation are extremely honored to be part of this historic endeavor with Boom and we look forward to the commercial production of Overture in the very near future.”
