Course Objectives
The goal of this course is to provide students with an in-depth overview of the ADL principles and SCORM specifications for modern courseware development. The class will review the modern courseware technologies and standardization efforts. The students will examine the techniques for overcoming the challenges of designing and implementing SCORM-compliant courseware and will be presented with real-world examples utilizing the principles of ADL and SCORM. They will also be introduced to the tools and resources that are available to ADL/SCORM community. Special attention will be paid to discussing the critical issues and current trends associated with ADL and SCORM development.
ADL and SCORM in Today's Courseware Development
Today's courseware industry has been innovative and has evolved considerably, creating a rich spectrum of options for learners. Volumes of instructional content have been developed and delivered to learners over distributed learning networks. The Sharable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM) framework, initiated by ADL, aims to facilitate the process of making courseware more accessible, cost-effective and adaptable via the creation of reusable learning content.
