A Practical Hands-On Guide to HLA Development

A Practical Guide to HLA is more than a walkthrough of the HLA standards. This course looks at the real issues in using HLA technology and helps you understand how to really think through an HLA development program. - What are the practical considerations in FOM design? - What can really be expected of an RTI and how to get the most out of it? - How can you formulate a large complex federation that is fault tolerant? - How do gateways really work and what is required of the federation users?

Who Should Attend?

Simulation architects, software engineers, systems designers, technical managers and analysts who need to build or interact with HLA-compliant applications. This course is oriented towards software developers and emphasizes real-time simulation concerns within HLA. A basic understanding of C/C++ programming language is required.

Course Objectives

Learn what really goes into a working HLA Federation and how to avoid time-consuming integration problems when developing Federate applications. Gain practical experience using HLA RTI software. Explore a variety of HLA interface strategies for new simulations. Learn how to retrofit Legacy systems to accommodate HLA.

Course includes hands-on programming labs, sample applications, and source code that demonstrates HLA v1.3 and IEEE 1516 standards.
