Alicia Sanchez

Alicia Sanchez, a researcher in serious games is completing a PhD in Modeling and Simulation from the University of Central Florida. Her research areas of interest surround Synthetic Learning Environments, including games and simulations. Ms. Sanchez has overseen the development of several products at UCF including the Virtual Field Trip and the Soft Skills Simulator and is currently evaluating the effectiveness of MMOGs for STEM education. Her interests in video games lie in the empirical investigation of their ability to serve as pedagogical tools to supplement or replace classroom instruction and the characteristics that guide their effectiveness. Ms. Sanchez will be joining the ODU-VMASC research team as part of their serious games research initiative in October 2006.
