GL Studio's Reusable Software Objects (RSO’s) allow you to create a design once and reuse it with a minimum of effort. RSOs can be used as building blocks for creating new designs, greatly speeding up the development of new designs. The ability to extend the GL Studio design environment allows you to customize the workflow to your specific project needs.
Once you have built RSOs, you can seamlessly deploy them in a number of other environments with no reengineering necessary. GL Studio comes with wrappers that allow you to easily deploy content anywhere Active-X controls can be used (web applications, MFC applications, Visual Basic, etc.), into Multigen-Paradigm's Vega Prime, Open Scene Graph, any typical X-Windows application, and much more. Custom integration to your application architecture is simple too. With a minimum of effort, a reusable wrapper can be created to host any GL Studio created content into your application.
RSOs are also easily reused across platforms. Microsoft Windows, Linux and SGI support are standard with GL Studio and other operating systems can be supported on request. Simply recompile the RSO on the desired target platform and no other changes are usually required.
As an example of GL Studio's multi-use functionality we will take a look at the TACLANE KG-175 design file and how it can be incorporated into different applications.
EXAMPLE: Above is the original TACLANE KG-175
file when created in GL Studio.
- Instructor Operator Station
DiSTI has designed a reusable instructor/student framework to easily build networked classroom environments from any GL Studio Design. The environment can work in a local area network or over the internet for Advanced Distance Learning. Below is an example of how the TACLANE KG-175 instrumentation is being used to train the students with the Instructor Operator Station(shown on the left) which has total control of the two Student Stations(shown to the right). For a more defined overview, you can learn more about it on our Advanced Learning Environment page. DiSTI is selling the Advanced Learning Environment as well as the TACLANE KG-175 simulation. You may purchase the Advanced Learning Environment or the TACLANE KG-175 simulation by contacting the sales department at glstudio@disti.com or by calling 407-206-3390.

- Interactive 3D Simulation
The same GL Studio design file is used to create a standalone executable that is fully interactive. Students can have the ability to not only interact with the simulation, but view the device from any perspective for a true 3D realistic look.
EXAMPLE: Above is the GL Studio
created TACLANE KG-175 file easily imported into a standalone 3D
simulation executable.

The same GL Studio design file is used to create ActiveX components for easily web
deployable interactive applications such as this representation of the TACLANE
KG-175 used in a 3rd party software program. This allows the student to train on a
device via the internet, LAN or WAN from any web browser.
EXAMPLE: Above is the GL Studio created
TACLANE KG-175 used to create an ActiveX component for web page deployment.

GL Studio easily integrates with your favorite development packages like Authorware,
Director, Toolbook and your in-house visual basic applications. GL Studio applications
can be deployed over the web or as standalone applications. GL Studio's powerful code
generator allows you to create SCORM compliant components in common formats like
Active-X or dll's. The content is portable to Windows, Linux, and SGI IRIX. The user
will be able to train on subsystems such as fire control and armament, flight control
and instruments, and communications, navigation, and electronic countermeasures systems.
GL Studio is adept at creating any kind of interactive training that requires reproducing
the look and feel of real equipment.
In the screenshot to the left, GL Studio was used to create a complete simulation
for a network encryption instrument panel. All of the buttons have been programmed
to behave as they would in operational equipment. The user is able to change the
settings on the radio by simply using a touch screen or by clicking on the buttons
and switches. The GL Studio created object was then inserted into a 3rd party courseware
product where the developer has full access to the behavior embedded in the GL Studio
created design. This allows you to let your custom courseware, interact with your
real-time, photo realistic simulation.
