DiSTI® Awarded over $1M in contracts to create PC-Simulations for the U.S. Navy GL Studio™ will be used to create high fidelity graphics for U.S. Navy trainers
ORLANDO, FL, July 8, 2004 - The DiSTI Corporation, a small Orlando based business, has recently been awarded two contracts worth over $1,000,000 to create high fidelity graphics for two U.S. Navy trainers. The first contract was awarded by L-3 Government Services Inc. (GSI), for an E-6B Weapon System Trainer (WST) and the second contract was awarded by American Systems Corporation (ASC) for an F/A-18 C/D Simulated Aircraft Maintenance Trainer (SAMT).
Both contractors selected DiSTI's award-winning GL Studio software to create real-time 3-Dimensional interactive graphics for student user interfaces. "The selection of GL Studio for these programs solidifies the confidence the Navy and their contractors have in the use of GL Studio." said Joe Swinski, President of DiSTI. GL Studio is a rapid application development tool for creating photo-realistic, interactive simulations of instrumentation, controls and electronic displays such as those found on modern military aircraft and modern maintenance facilities.
Both contracts rely on the use of GL Studio's high fidelity graphics, support for embedded simulations and touch screen monitors to replace more costly hardware based Training Test Equipment (TTE). This new technology provides the reliability and performance on economical PCs to provide top-shelf training for our sailors and airmen. "The Navy is seeing a great cost savings with the use of PC simulation over TTE. These high fidelity simulations are simpler to build, easier and more economical to distribute and never break down." Swinski added.
